SOAProjects storms Big Four walls with decentralized consulting model

MOUNTAIN VIEW — SOAProjects Inc. has nowhere near the head count or geographic footprint of the audit firms that dominate its field.

But that’s a big reason why the Mountain View risk advisory firm says it services its clients at rates far below the Big Four, where it finds people to add to its rapidly growing roster of seasoned auditors.

SOAProjects was founded in 2004 by a handful of senior-level professionals, mostly from PricewaterhouseCoopers, and specializes in enterprise government and advisory services, regulatory reporting, technical accounting and finance and IT consulting.

Beginning this year, the firm will roll out its green program and audit advisory, which will inspect facilities and recommend policies to ensure compliance with environmental regulations. That comes on the heels of a strategic partnership with Pleasanton-based Equity Administration Solutions Inc., announced in December. The partnership will combine SOA’s accounting and finance expertise with Equity’s stock plan expensing software.
